MCAS Yuma
Hazardous Waste Management
The
MCAS Yuma Environmental Department is greatly concerned with
the health and safety issues involving Hazardous Waste
Management not only aboard the Air Station but also with the
Yuma Community. Under the federal Resource Conservation and
Recovery Act (RCRA), State Statutes and Codes that are modeled
on the federal law, the Environmental Department has the
authority to monitor and direct Units, Tenant Units,
Contractors, Visiting Units that may generate, transport or
dispose of hazardous waste while visiting the MCAS Yuma.
The
Environmental Quality Division Hazardous Waste Program
implements Federal, State, Local, and USMC Hazardous Waste
Laws in accordance with delegation from the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency. The Environmental Quality Division is
responsible for effectively implementing standards for the
safe generation, management, storage and disposal of hazardous
waste.
